The Mead School District, in partnership with Teen & Kid Closet, operates a free clothing and school supply resource in North Spokane for local students and families in need.
Referral Process (Required)
Students and families from the Mead area, Deer Park, Riverside and Nine Mile Falls can be referred through a number of sources including district office staff at any school district, school counselors, social workers, etc. Once you have been referred, a volunteer will contact you. Background Information
The resource hub is stocked with donated items, including clothing, shoes, jackets/coats and some basic school supplies to help ensure that local families and youngsters have access to items of need. MSD’s space will have volunteers to help shoppers find what they need, as well as dressing rooms to be able to try on clothing items.
This partnership began when MSD approached TKC about serving the youth in the North Spokane and rural areas. TKC currently has a brick-and-mortar location for shoppers near downtown Spokane, but often those who live well outside that immediate area aren’t able to make the trip. Recognizing that need in our community, TKC was on board immediately in supporting the idea and helping establish the procedures and processes for the project to come to fruition prior in late summer 2022.
In the first four months of this partnership, this location has served more 250 youngsters in North Spokane and surrounding areas. Our goal is to continue to meet the needs of area youth.
