Air Quality Guide

Following the Department of Health and Spokane Regional Health District guidance, Mead Schools have adopted the Washington Children & Youth Activities Guide Air Quality guide when air quality is compromised due to wildfire smoke or other environmental factors.

Your student may have a health condition that puts them at higher sensitivity for air quality concerns. We will follow the air quality guidelines from the Department of Health when determining time spent outdoors for activities such as recess, PE, and athletics.

If you want your student to stay indoors when the Current Air Quality meter (AirNow.gov) reaches a certain level please call the school office on the day of concern to request that your student remain indoors. For after-school sports please contact your student’s coach.  For an AQI >151 all outdoor events will be canceled or moved to a different location.

Please contact your School Nurse if you have any questions.
