Foundation and Delivery

The Mead School District Elementary School Social Work and Counseling Program is to provide a proactive and developmentally appropriate program that fosters social and emotional growth and exploration for all students.  In partnership with teachers, administrators, parents and the community, the School Social Worker and/or Counselor dedicates their program to advocate for all students to reach their full potential.

The Mead School District Elementary School Social Work and Counseling Program envisions a future where all of our students are the best friends, leaders and citizens they can be.  They use their strengths and talents to accept challenges and are inspired to be collaborative lifelong learners. They are self-directed and well-prepared to confidently pursue college and career opportunities in the 21st century.

The Four Major Components
The major components that are included in the delivery of the comprehensive school social work/counseling program are:

  • Core SEL Curriculum
  • Responsive Services
  • Indirect Student Services
  • Individual Student Planning

These components make up the services that are provided to students, teachers, parents, staff and the community.  Each component provides a framework of how the school social worker/counselor will reach the stakeholders in the school.
