As part of the process for receiving additional ESSER funds, OSPI is requiring each school district to submit an Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan that provides information on how gaps in learning for student subgroups have been and will be addressed. This plan was approved by the Board of Directors on May 24, 2021 with Resolution No. 21-5. Updates will be required in November of 2021 and April of 2022.
For the first submission, districts will complete an online survey. The format of the survey is a template from OSPI.
Since our district is in the process of developing our five-year strategic plan, most of the process for addressing academic and social emotional needs are well underway and highly aligned to the requirements of this recovery plan. This plan is also highly aligned to Policy 3212: Ensuring Educational Equity. The district will use our Equity Analysis and Impact Tool
to continue to improve learning for all students.
Some highlights from the plan:
- Our district will continue to engage in equity analyses to identify and address gaps in subgroups of students. Attached is the current version of the equity tool we will use to review policies, procedures, practices, and data.
- Our district has identified groups of students who need additional support. We will continue to find effective ways to improve learning for all students and address gaps for struggling learners.
- Our district will continue to strengthen our multi-tiered systems of supports to systemically help struggling learners at all levels. Those support systems will include intervention strategies to address academic and social emotional needs of our students.
- Our district will update this recovery plan with a more in-depth strategic plan in the near future. As part of the required recovery plan, we will submit updates to the state in their required formats as needed in November and April of the 2021-2022 school year.
