March 6 - Midway Modernization Update

Work on Phase IV of the Midway Modernization Project (south wing, main entry & admin offices) is progressing rapidly. Pictures include the weather barrier that allows masonry block work to take place, ongoing tile work in restrooms, the welding of piping plus the installation of fan cooling units and duct work in the mechanical room.

Bond & Levy Election Results Validated

It's official - The February 13, 2018, Bond and Levy election results were validated on February 23, 2018. Final YES votes were 70% for the Levy and 67% for the Bond! The Mead School District Board of Directors, administration, teachers, staff and students extend a sincere THANK YOU to the Mead Community for their approval of the Bond and Levy.

January 29 - Latest Midway Construction Photos

Work is progressing rapidly on the South Wing renovation at Midway Elementary. Exterior insulation and underground plumbing are being installed PLUS the slab for the walk-in refrigerator has been poured and Spokane Restaurant Equipment has installed new kitchen hoods.

January 20 - New Northwood Dedication Ceremony & Open House

On Saturday, January 20, the Mead SD celebrated the opening of the NEW Northwood Middle School with nearly 700 community members in attendance. It was a wonderful gathering hosted by Northwood Principal Dave Stenersen. Also present were former Northwood administrators Sue Hogue, John Keith, Joanne Rehberg & Brenda Goehring along with retired teachers Cliff Goss & Dick Jones who opened the original Northwood 60 years ago. Mr. Goss is the father of current NW English teacher Merri Layton and Mr. Jones is the father of Jim Jones who teaches PE at Northwood. Entertainment for the event was provided by the Northwood Jazz Choir, Jazz Band and Orchestra.

Shiloh Hills Modernization Construction Contract Awarded

Following a summary presentation of the five bids submitted for the Shiloh Hills Elementary School Modernization Project, the school board, on January 8, 2018, unanimously voted to award the bid to Garco Construction who was the low bidder on the project. The Shiloh Hills project is scheduled to begin right after Spring Break. Students will be housed in the old Northwood building during construction.
