On September 28, 2015, the Mead School District Board of Directors approved the purchase of several new/replacement instruments to enhance the music programs at Northwood, Mountainside, Mead High and Mt. Spokane.
Along with new carpet, a new roof and the removal of cafeteria carpet that revealed a beautiful hardwood floor, Brentwood's exterior also received a facelift during the summer of 2015 thanks to new paint and the removal of old shrubs.
Resurfacing and curbing of the tracks at Mt. Spokane High School and Mead High School are bond projects started and completed in the summer of 2015. The Mt. Spokane track resurfacing and improvement projects are scheduled for completion prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year. The Mead High School project will be completed in mid to late September 2015.
On August 24, 2015, the Mead School District Board of Directors approved the purchase of twelve pianos from Steinway of Spokane plus the purchase of a variety of elementary music instruments. The district is still working on bids to upgrade the theatre sound systems at both Mead and Mt. Spokane high schools, as well as the purchase of new and/or replacement secondary music instruments.
Rather than recarpet the Meadow Ridge Cafeteria/Multi-Purpose Room the decision was made to install new vinyl flooring instead. It looks fantastic! The new vinyl will improve cleanliness and increase functionality of the space.
The contract to install new building access controls, surveillance equipment and intrusion detection for all Mead School District buildings/schools was awarded by the Mead School District Board of Directors, on July 20, 2015, to Ednetics.
Summer 2015 projects included the repair and resurfacing of roofs at Brentwood, Evergreen and Meadow Ridge elementary schools - 159,863 square feet of new roofing was installed. All three projects were completed prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year.
