New Prairie View Elementary Principal

Congratulations to Dr. Irene Gonzales who will be the new Prairie View principal effective July 1, 2015. Dr. Gonzales comes to us from Spokane Schools where, for the past two years, she has been the principal at Franklin Elementary. Prior to that she was an Executive Director for Spokane (Teaching & Learning Services) for ten years.

We welcome Josh Westermann as the new principal at Midway Elementary effective July 1, 2015. Mr. Westermann is currently a principal assistant with Spokane Schools working at Indian Trail and Westview elementary schools.

2015 3A State Track Champions

Congratulations to three Mt. Spokane High School track athletes who earned state titles at the 2015 State Track Meet held in Tacoma, May 29 & May 30. Johnny Dressel won both the 1600 & 3200, Trevor Payne was the discus 3A champion and Michael Hoyt placed first in the 1600 wheel chair race.

Congratulations to Teresa Laher who will be the new Mead High School principal starting July 1, 2015. Ms. Laher began her teaching career at Shadle Park High School in 1994 and for the past two years has been principal at both Lind-Ritzville High School and Ritzville Elementary School.

Congratulations to Mt. Spokane coaches Alex Schuerman and Don Story. Mr. Schuerman is the 2015 GSL "Coach of the Year" for baseball and Mr. Story is the 2015 GSL "Coach of the Year" for boys tennis.

13th Annual Mead School District Developmental Olympics

Each May for the past thirteen years our Special Education Department has organized the Mead School District DLC Special Olympics. The event, hosted at Mead High School for the past several years, took place on May 14, 2015, and featured an Opening Ceremony with music by the Mead High School band and an Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of the competition where each student was presented with a participation ribbon.
