Transportation Department "Fill the Bus" Food Drive

The annual "Fill the Bus" Food Drive took place on December 5, 2015, in the parking lot at Yokes and Fred Meyer. 531 lbs. of food plus $1,234 in cash were collected. Thanks to Mead Transportation Department employees for organizing the event and delivering the food and money to the Mead Food Bank.

Fall 2015 GSL "Coaches of the Year"

Congratulations to Mead High Varsity Volleyball Coach Shawn Wilson, Mt. Spokane Varsity Football Coach Terry Cloer and Mt. Spokane Freshman Football Coach Josh Cowart. All three were honored as "Coach of the Year" for their respective sport.

Board Members Reelected

Four of the five Mead School District Board of Director positions were on the November 3, 2015, general election ballot. Board members Denny Denholm, Ron Farley and Carmen Green were reelected in races that were unopposed. Two candidates were on the ballot for the District 3 position. Incumbent Bob Olson emerged victorious (60%) and was reelected for the upcoming four-year term.

Apple Distinguished School & InvenTeam Winner

Congratulations to Mead's Riverpoint Academy on two major accomplishments. They have been recognized by Apple as a 2015-2017 Distinguished School for Innovation, Leadership and Educational Excellence and they are home to one of 14 student teams in the entire United States to earn a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Grant (up to $10,000) for Invention Projects. "Battle of the Bell" 2015

More than 10,000 fans turned out on October 9, 2015, to support Mead High and Mt. Spokane football players in the annual "Battle of the Bell" football classic at Joe Albi Stadium. At the end of the first half Mead had the lead, but Mt. Spokane came out strong in the second half winning the game 30-14. This is the first "Battle of the Bell" three-peat in Mt. Spokane history. Catmania Volleyball Recap

Catmania, the annual volleyball match between the Mt. Spokane Wildcats and Mead Panthers, took place on October 8, 2015, at Mt. Spokane. The gym was packed and the atmosphere was extremely loud and very intense! The competitive back and forth match was decided in the 5th and final game with Mead High emerging victorious.

2015 "Cat Scramble Golf Tournament" Check Presented

The purpose of the annual Cat Scramble Golf Tournament & Silent Auction is to raise monies to help support the athletic programs at both Mead High and Mt. Spokane. During pregame festivities at the "Battle of the Bell" football game this year's record-breaking check in the amount of $52,000 was presented. Read more . . .

Paralympic All American

Mead High School track athlete Zane Magin was recognized at the October 8, 2015, Homecoming Assembly as a Paralympic All American for 400 meters. Presenting Zane with this award were principal Teresa Laher, Superintendent Tom Rockefeller and School Board Director Bob Olson.
