Students Qualify for HOSA Nationals

CenturyLink $5,000 Teacher Technology Grant

Nancy Phillips, a Library Media Specialist at Shiloh Hills Elementary School, is one of six teachers statewide to receive a 2015 CenturyLink Technology Grant. The monies will be used to purchase iPads for use by the entire Shiloh Hills student population. In Washington State a total of 200 grant applications were submitted.

2015 YMCA Community Partner of the Year Award

At their Annual Meeting on March 24, 2015, the YMCA presented the Mead School District with the 2015 YMCA Community Partner of the Year Award. Student Services Executive Director Jared Hoadley and Student Services Coordinator Kelly Schultz accepted the award on behalf of the district. Mead partners with the Y by providing rent-free space for before and after school programs.

H&R Block Budget Challenge Scholarship Winner

Julia Preuss, a senior at Mt. Spokane High School, has been awarded a $20,000 scholarship through the H&R Block Budget Challenge - a teen financial literacy program that rewards high school students for mastering real-world budgeting and personal finance decision-making. Mt. Spokane DECA - 13 Qualify for Nationals

Over 3,650 Washington State high school students participated in the State DECA competition in Bellevue in mid-March, 2015, including 78 students competing in 40 different events from Mt. Spokane High School. At this state event, 13 Mt. Spokane students qualified for DECA Nationals taking place in Orlando, Florida, the last week of April. Read more . . .
