This is the second year students in grades 3-8 took the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) tests in English Language Arts (ELA) and math, which align with the new higher state standards. Additionally, students in grades 5 and 8 take a science Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) each spring, while high school students take the biology End of Course (EOC) exam after completing the course.
For the ELA Composite (grades 3-8) the Mead School District had the second highest pass rate in the Spokane region (71.4%). The highest regional pass rate was 72.3%. For the Math Composite (grades 3-8) Mead scores were the highest in the Spokane Region (69.1%). The next closest score was 64.3%.
