Does the District collect more money if more homes or businesses are built?

Voters approve a fixed dollar amount for school bonds. This is the maximum amount that can be collected and the cost is shared by all taxpayers in the district. When more homes or businesses are built the tax base increases and the bond cost per property owner decreases.

In fact, with our last bond we advertised a projected bond tax rate of $1.42 and by the first collection year, 2016, the rate had dropped to $1.32 because the taxpayer base had expanded.

The Enrichment Levy has a renewal rate $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. If the assessed value increases the amount collected for the levy could increase if the maximum total levy amount has not yet been reached. However, if the assessed value decreases the amount collected for the levy will go down because the levy rate remains constant at $1.50.

Maximum levy amounts for 2019, 2020 & 2021 are:
  • 2019 - $9.5 Million
  • 2020 - $9.9 Million
  • 2021 - $10.5 Million
