Presidents' Day

In observance of Presidents' Day there will be no school on Monday, February 15th. There will also be no school on Friday, February 12th. The week of Febriary 8-11 will be a non-block week. Classes will begin each day at 8:15 a.m. - Wednesday and Thursday will NOT be block days.

Running Start Information Meetings  

Students (and parents) interested in Running Start for the 2010-2011 school year should consider attending one of the following information meetings:  

February 24, 20108 a.m.College & Career Center
March 3, 20106 p.m.College & Career Center
April 28, 20108 a.m.College & Career Center

High School Proficiency Exam  

March 16 - March 18 (Tuesday-Thursday) and April 13 & April 15 (Tuesday and Thursday) are the dates scheduled for the HSPE (10th graders plus 11th and 12th graders who have yet to meet standard) and Practice HSPE (9th graders).

This annual assessment (formerly known as WASL) covers four major content areas: reading, writing, mathematics and science. The testing block will run from 8:15-10:15 a.m. on each of the five testing days.After testing the remainder of the school day will begin at 10:25 a.m. Click here for the test/bell schedule.
  

Senior Presentations & Student Led Conferences  

Senior Presentations and SLCs have moved to May this year (May 17-20). Students will attend classes each morning on an alternating block schedule with presentations and conferences taking place in the afternoon. (Click here for a calendar/schedule).

Senior Presentation Panelists are needed. If you would like to serve please complete this online volunteer form. As indicated above, Senior Presentations will take place May 17-20 from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Your participation is greatly appreciated!
  

Spring 2010 - Advanced Placement Test Information

AP test registration will begin in March. The test fee is $86 for each exam and should be paid at the MHS Business Office. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may receive a discounted fee (see counselor Mike Phillips). Test registration deadline is March 24.

AP tests will be given May 3 - May 14, 2010.

Statewide College Math Placement Test

There is now a statewide college math placement test for students who are planning to take college level math at any of Washington state's two or four year schools. Please visit www.placement.washington.edu for additional information.

Advisory News & Meeting Information

The Advisory Program at Mead High School will look different this year. Instead of monthly "advisory days" for all students each grade level will satisfy this graduation requirement as follows:
   

  • 9th Grade - Integrated Communications class

  • 10th Grade - Each advisory group will meet eight Thursdays during Student Access time. Click here for a meeting schedule.

  • 11th Grade - Each advisory group will meet eight Wednesdays during Student Access time. Click here for a meeting schedule.

  • 12th Grade - Citizenship/AP Government class

School Safety & Crisis Drills

A safe learning environment is a top priority at Mead High School. Therefore, we periodically conduct crisis drills in our building simulating real life situations. Some drills may be unannounced. If you have a question about a drill or a real life situation please phone District Office (465-6000). Information will also be posted on the Mead School District website.
