Parent Notification -- Changes in
Student Fees
At their meeting of June 28, 2010,
the Mead School District Board of Directors approved an annual,
one-time activity fee for students who participate in one or more
extra-curricular activities (Elementary $20; Middle School $30; High
School $40).
The purpose of this annual fee is
to protect extra-curricular programs from elimination. Mead students
will be required to pay this fee prior to participation in sports and/or
activities.
Additionally, the 2010-2011 school
year will see a reduction in the activity bus schedule. More specific
information regarding the curtailment of this service will be published
in August.
Please stay tuned to your school or
district webpage for information updates. Thank you for your continued
support of Mead activities.

Boys and Girls Club Open!!!
A new Boys &
Girls Clubs of Spokane County - Mead Site is now open in the old Mead
Middle School. The club will be dedicated in honor of an inspirational
educator who left a rich legacy of love for children and who touched
the lives of so many, Lisa Stiles-Gyllenhammer. Lisa was a beloved
teacher at Shiloh Hills Elementary who lost a long and brave battle
with breast cancer in January of 2006. Lisa was known for her
impassioned excellence and encouragement, support, and going the extra
mile for her kids EVERY time. For a Club whose mission is to help every
child reach their full potential, we could not think of a more fitting
person to dedicate our Club to as we expand our mission in north
Spokane.
The Club is open for grades K - 12 for a yearly
membership fee of only $10.00. This will include: sports and
recreation, tutoring and homework center, computer lab, arts and
crafts, music and dance lessons and a hot meal served daily. School
year hours are: weekdays 3 pm - 7 pm. For more information visit the
