Noon Book Club

Join our noon book club. We meet the first Tuesday of every month in the library from 11:45 - 12:25.  This month we are reading Freaky Monday by Mary Rodgers. Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 2.

Hadley is pretty much the model student. Ms. Pitt is the kind of teacher who wants you to call her by her first name. Hadley wishes Ms. Pitt would stick to her lesson plan. Ms. Pitt wishes Hadley would lighten up.

So when Hadley and Ms. Pitt find themselves switched into each other's bodies, the first thing they want to do is switch right back. It takes a family crisis, a baffled principal, and a (double) first kiss to help them figure out that change can be pretty enlightening.

Even if it is a little freaky!

Reading Counts Contest

Scholastic Reading Counts wants to recognize the nation's four most avid readers. They are sponsoring a contest for the students accumulating the most Reading Counts points from January 1 - May 12, 2010. All of our students are elligible. Every time a student passes a Reading Counts test they earn points. At the end of the contest, the student with the most points will be entered in the national contest. There will be one winner for each of four different grade level groups: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

SILVERWOOD
“READING IS THE TICKET!!"

Attention Evergreen families. The Silverwood reading program starts January 25th. All students who read 600 minutes over the course of 6 weeks will earn a free ticket to Silverwood! Look for your students tally sheet to come home soon. Extra tally/tracking sheets are available by the front office. They are due back by MARCH 8TH. Questions? Becky Wagner 465-0580

Book Exchange will replace Spring Book Fair

Do you ever wish that you could swap books with another family? Have you purchased books from the Book Fair that were read once and are now sitting on the shelf unused? Then you will love our Spring Book Exchange.

This Spring, during conference week, instead of a Book Fair, we will be trying a Book Exchange. The details are still being worked out, but basically, families can donate books to our school and receive donated books in exchange. So start saving your books and look for updated information soon.

Please dress for the weather

Students spend up to 30 minutes a day outside and need to dress warmly on these bitter cold, or wet winter days. Please remember to bring a jacket or sweatshirt and closed toed shoes to school for recess. When it snows, please remember to wear boots, gloves and snow pants if you have them. We do not have warm dry , extra clothes for children who get wet and cold at recess.

Now you can help Evergreen PTO with fundraising without spending more money. With eScrip, money is donated to our school from the money you already spend at area stores. Just register your cards.

You can register everything from your American Airlines frequent flier miles, to your debit card, to your Home Depot card, to your Safeway card.  Even your Subway card!

No Cell Phones or other electronics at school

Because cell phones are disruptive to learning in our classrooms, students may not use cell phones at school. Cell phones that are turned off, may be stored in a student's backpack for use after school. This includes: iPods, MP3 players, and handheld games such as Gameboy and DS. Electronics will be confiscated and parents will be called to pick them up in the office.

For the safety of our students and your pets, please do not bring your pets onto school property. If you bring the family dog with you to pick up your son or daughter, please keep your pet in the car. For student safety, it is important that we follow this new guideline. We love pets as well, but we cannot risk student safety at any time. Thanks for your understanding and support.
