LARAE STOTTS SELECTED AS LILAC CANDIDATE

On Monday night, October 19, six senior girls participated in our school Lilac Candidate Selection Process.  Elaina Sicilia, Molly Brown, Larae Stotts, Carley Ross, Hailee Naccarato, and Carrie Crosby competed for the crown.  Each girl started off the evening by introducing her family to the judges and Lilac Representatives.  A reception room was the setting for dinner and conversation.  The girls then each got individual time with the judges as they entered the interview part of the evening.  Judges had been given the candidates bio's, which they had prepared in advance.  Judges asked questions of the girls and had time to "get to know" them and their personality.  Then it was time for the stage portion of the competition.  Our own H. James Brown was the emcee for the evening.  His entertaining personality helped to put each girl at ease as the pressure was on.   Each girl was escorted on stage by one of her parents.  She then was brought to the microphone to chat with Mr. Brown and then deliver her prepared speech and answer an impromptu question.  As the judges deliberated, the crowd was treated to a slide show which showcased each of the girls.

It was time to crown our 2009-2010 Lilac Candidate.  And the crown went to.....Larae Stotts.  Congratulations to all of the girls who participated and we wish Larae the best of luck as she now continues into the competition with the Lilac Association.  She will compete in November in an interview process.  Each school in the county can submit a representative.  The Lilac Association will narrow the field to fourteen.  And then in February they will take the "Fab 14" into the Lilac Coronation where the Lilac Association will select six princesses and crown the queen. Good luck, Larae!

When your student misses school and an excuse is not provided within 24 hours of the return to school, school discipline will apply.

(Student Handbook page 15)

When a student has to leave prior to the end of the day, they must check out at the attendance office and get an early dismissal form. No exceptions!

(Student Handbook page 15)

If your student is going to leave during the day, please remember to send a note or call the attendance hotline (465-7280) in the morning, so your student can pick up a  pass from the attendance office in the morning to leave at the time needed.
