Cyber Safety
Notice to All Students NOT Riding Buses

Many
students would like to walk or ride their bike to school - but at this
point the only place it is safe to do that is from Jesse's Bluff. If
you ride your bike, you must wear a helmet and bring a lock for the
bike. Only students in grades 1 - 6 may ride their bikes to school. Skateboards and Heelies are not allowed.
If
your parents want you to walk from another area, they must send a note
to school indicating that they know the risks and they still want you
to ride or walk.
Thanks for your cooperation with this attempt to keep you safe!
Safety Requires Preparation
Today's society can be very
troubling so we need to be vigilant in keeping our children safe.
Although we truly have a caring, safe environment at Prairie View, it
would be naive to believe that nothing could ever happen here.
All
schools in Mead School District practice "LOCKDOWN," or "CODE ONE"
drills. These drills consist of pulling all students and adults into
classrooms, locking the interior doors, and covering all windows, and
waiting quietly for the "ALL CLEAR" signal over the intercom. We
practice this in the event a violent intruder were to enter the school.
On Tuesday, October 14 at 9:30 am, we will be conducting our first
drill this school year. We would appreciate your support in preparing
your child for the drill. This preparation may be as simple as letting
them know that this is something we do at school so that we are sure we
can continue to keep them safe. Our teachers will be talking with their
classes about this as well. We hope to be conducting this type of drill
a few times during the school year.
Again, these are not the
kinds of situations we like to think about, let alone need to prepare
for. We truly value the nurturing community that Prairie View provides,
and sincerely hope that our preparation will be in vain.
