Washington State law (RCW 28A.210.080) requires all children to have immunization records for certain vaccine-preventable diseases in order to attend school. Please see the requirements for the 2016-17 school year below.
Starting in the 2016-17 school year, all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are required by law to get two doses of the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine. If your student has already received 2 varicella vaccines or had the chickenpox, then he or she will not need to get the vaccine again.
Please note: if you informed the school that your student had chickenpox disease before the 2014-2015 school year, then you are not required to have a licensed healthcare provider verify that your student had the disease in the past.
