September 2017 - LED Upgrades at Mead High

Taking advantage of an awesome deal on lighting fixtures, coupled with a rebate from Avista, the 11 lights that run along the front of Mead High School have been replaced with new bright, energy efficient, LED lights. Parking lot and Hastings Road sidewalk visibility are much improved and, according to our Maintenance Director Travis Bown, the new lights/fixtures have already paid for themselves in rebate & energy savings!

Summer 2017 Field Rehabilitation

2,000 lbs. of grass seed PLUS 820,000 lbs. of top dressing - like what golf courses use - was applied by district groundskeepers to 15 separate playing fields at Mead High, Mt. Spokane, Mountainside & Northwood.

NW Sidewalks & Road Widening

A part of the New Northwood construction project includes widening Center Road on the south side by 10 feet from Pittsburgh east to the new bus loop PLUS the addition of sidewalks along this same stretch. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

August 18 - Colbert Single Point of Entry

Work is nearing completion on the Colbert Elementary single point of entry, which includes installation of a second set of double doors a few feet from the main entry. The project also includes a new viewing window from the main office into the vestibule and a buzzer system allowing controlled access during the school day.
